Reverse Engineering process allows, through sophisticated measuring and digitalizing systems, the creation of series of lines or cloud of points, which represent the mathematic description of the physical scanned object. These data can be managed by specific software or by CAD 3D itself in order to reconstruct the 3D mathematic model of the object. This reproduction can be used for direct reproduction with Rapid Prototyping systems or predisposition with Rapid Tooling systems or production with CN machines.

The present situation of the digitalising systems is represented today by Laser Scanning systems without contact: these systems can measure the space coordinates of a huge numbers of points, also on objects with big dimensions, and in a very short time without touching the surfaces of the object itself.
